You’ve loved reading mysteries for as long as you can remember, and, now, you’d like to try writing one of your own. In this condensed workshop for new mystery writers, you’ll learn how to plan, structure, and write a full-length mystery step-by-step. Through creative exercises, you’ll build your fictional world, developing characters, constructing a rough plot outline, and beginning to sketch the clues and red herrings that delight mystery readers. We’ll share excerpts of your work in class for gentle, supportive feedback. We’ll also discuss the difference between mysteries and thrillers and take a quick tour of the subgenres that comprise the broad crime fiction market.
