Poetry Month Celebration: A Workshop with Catherine Doty

Celebrate National Poetry Month with The Writers Circle in a special poetry workshop with award-winning poet Catherine Doty.

Go forth boldly to the blank page and explore the music, voice, and imagery of poetry. In this workshop, we’ll gain inspiration from a selection of contemporary poets, then use them as a springboard to write poems of our own. We will embrace the unbridled wildness and energy of our first drafts before exploring a few devices from the poet’s toolbox. There will be lots of time to share and workshop these early drafts, using the group’s feedback to craft our words into even better poems. We’ll conclude with a brief open reading to celebrate the group’s creations.
