Celebrate National Poetry Month and Earth Month together in a very special nature-centered poetry workshop with award-winning poet Catherine Doty. Go forth boldly to the blank page and explore the voice, imagery, and music of poetry inspired by the natural world. In this workshop, we’ll explore a selection of works by contemporary poets, then use them as a springboard to write poems of our own. We will embrace the unbridled wildness and energy of our first drafts before exploring a few devices from the poet’s toolbox. There will be time to share and workshop these early drafts, using the group’s feedback to craft our words into even better poems. We’ll conclude with a brief open reading to celebrate the group’s creations. Plus, take advantage of a special event-only discount on The Nature of Reading's wonderful selection of nature-focused books.
