Discover how the tools of comedy can give your prose a punch! Whether you’re writing short fiction, personal essays, social media posts, or even a long, serious novel, humorous moments brighten your prose and add dimension and personality to your writing. We’ll dig into a variety of texts to illustrate how humor can be subtle or laugh-out-loud. Then we’ll apply comedic techniques through exercises and class feedback. Students may work with existing writing projects or start something brand new. Perfect for beginners through advanced writers. The final week of the workshop will be an informal “open-mic” where we’ll discover how much funnier our new comedic masterpieces have become.
