Willa Cather said, "I don’t want anyone reading my writing to think about style. I just want them to be in the story." In this class, we'll learn how to write a short story that engages your reader. We'll learn about inciting incidents, reveals, characterization, dialogue, setting, and more. Every week you'll read a published short story selected by the instructor and drawn from a variety of short story collections, magazines, and literary journals. In class, you'll share your own work and receive gentle, constructive critiques from the other students and the instructor to help you improve your tale.

"My writing has definitely improved from the first week. Finally learned to write a story from beginning to end with suspense. Loved the variety of short stories we were introduced to."
"Christina Kapp respected my writing and was gentle but purposeful in her critique and I am a better writer now for that experience."
