Do you love poetry but have no idea how to write it? Do you wonder how to bring a fully engaging poem into the world? In this beginner, generative workshop, we will focus on discovering your own creativity and unleashing your individual voice. By reading contemporary (and not so contemporary) poetry, we’ll help connect your writing to the traditions of poetry, experimenting with free verse, sonnets, confessional, list poems, lyrical poems and more. Together we’ll find sources of inspiration to keep the muse flowing and explore prompts that invite us to pay closer attention to ourselves, our lives, and the world around us. You do not need any previous experience with writing or formal poetry. All you need is a pen, notebook (or laptop) and an open mind!
